Jesus is The Way

John 14: 3 - 6
"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know. Thomas said to Him, 'Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way? Jesus said, 'I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

Thought for the Day: "Thomas said to Him, 'Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?' " (John 14: 5, NKJ)

The disciples spent three years with Jesus, learning from Him. Jesus was preparing them for what was to come, yet they struggled with the whys and wherefores of His very presence among them. They were His followers, but they weren't exactly sure for what reason.
None of them had any inkling of understanding until Jesus' death on the cross, His burial and resurrection after three days and, after 40 days, His ascension into Heaven. The "aha" moment came to them at Pentecost at which time Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to live within their hearts. Then they knew He was the way ... He had come to give them life, eternal life.

It is the same for us. Although we don’t have the privilege of Jesus walking with us in the flesh, we do have Him in the Spirit and we have His word, the whole Bible. When we believe He is the son of God, that He died for the sins of you and me, and accept Him as our personal Lord and Savior, the most glorious journey has begun. It is a journey to heaven … there is only one way to get there and many ways to live, but with Jesus at the helm, in charge, and us being lovingly obedient to His will, we can overcome the struggles along the way.

He is The Way. He is The Truth. He is The Life.

Prayer: Lord, help me to see the need for You, abide in Your love and show me how to live to the utmost. In your name I pray. Amen.
