"The church is commissioned to call all the world to the lordship of Jesus Christ." Those are the words penned by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a Christian martyr who died at the hands of the Nazis in 1945.
First I thought of The Great Commission which states, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20)
And then I thought of Acts 1:8: "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
The church - all believers in Jesus Christ are to go forth and as going, must be witnesses to Jesus Christ, making disciples.
We have more power than we realize. God has given us His power through the Holy Spirit to use for His glory. And what do we do? We fall short, we fail to realize, we fail to act, we allow others to walk over us. Our fears take over, control us. We cannot give in or give up. We must persevere. Every last one of us. Not just a few. All who have received salvation by faith through Jesus Christ's death, burial and resurrection, have been instructed to go forth, to be doers, to be a witness for the Lord Jesus.
We have been given that right. Don't misuse it. Proclaim all that the world needs to hear. Be obedient to the Lord's commandments.
"If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31)
All that is, all those who are -- none matters if (since) God is for us. He is always present, within reach.
We must persevere.
It's the journey ... not the destination. ... The journey ... my eyes were opened and I knew Him and my heart was changed. ... Won't you join me in my travels, meandering here and there, journeying within my mind and beyond, on paths great and small, through this world that was created by and belongs to the Lord God Almighty.
