Are you a believer in Christ ... or in yourself?

Are you a believer in Christ -
The One whom you professed saved you from an eternal hell
The One you said you wanted to know
The One you said you would follow

What happened -
Was the path too difficult - was the one you had been on easier for you to travel?
Did you decide Jesus was not worth knowing?
Do you believe that if you can't see results of His work, then He's not doing anything?

When have you given Him a chance? When have you reached out and cried for His mercy?

You feel helpless. You don't know where to turn, yet you turn inward. But there are no answers there. Only more questions and more pain.

You make decisions based on what you want, what you desire, what you believe is your right. Why do you leave God out of the equation?

Are you a believer in Christ or only in yourself?

It is not true nor accurate to say to another, "This is how you are" or to say to yourself, "This is how I am."

It is only true and accurate to say, "This is how I see you" or "This is how I see me."

My sins are no less than your sins. Christ died for me as much as He died for you.

My journey in following Christ has not been easy. You may think your journey is tougher, but we each think our own personal journey is harder than that of another. The Lord through the Holy Spirit, who resides in the heart of every truly born-again believer, teaches us through our sorrows, our pain.

You say you believe in Jesus. You say you accepted Him as your Lord, your Savior, your Redeemer.

If you truly believe in Jesus - TRUST Him,
not yourself.

If you truly accept Jesus - LOVE Him,
not yourself.

If you truly desire to know and follow Jesus - GATHER with Him and fellow believers in a Bible study, in worship, in friendship,
not your own selfish desires.

Being baptized acknowledges that you accepted Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and have become a member of a body of believers - the church. It acknowledges that you are a child of God.

The lifelong relationship others have that you think "are just that way" is a result of tears, struggles and pain over one's lifetime and reaching out to the Lord for His help, His guidance, His promises, His love, His mercy, over and over again. It is ongoing, not just once and its gone. The Lord Jesus is with us always.

When you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, you became a new creature, a new you. You must throw off the old every time and seek the new, "for if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." (II Corinthians 5:17 NKJV)

"For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if one died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again." (II Corinthians 5:14-15 NKJV)

Live for Christ, in Christ, of Christ, and see / know all that you are:
Accepted, Secure and Significant.

The darkness surrounds us. We each have circumstances in our lives that wreak havoc upon us. But when we truly believe, we will know God is behind the scenes, working in our behalf.

Just because we cannot see Him, does not mean His is not present. He is always with us. Believe in Him, Trust Him, Love Him. He will open your eyes, your ears and most importantly, your heart to all of Him around you.

You said ...

You said
It would be so
that all I had to do
was take
what You said was mine

Did I not believe
was (is) my faith so weak
that I thought
I needed permission
from another

Was Your Word
not enough for me
to go forth,
obedient to only You
and do as You will

You said
all that was (is) before me
that I can see
is mine
You gave it to me

You, Lord, gave it to me
Just like You said

But what did (do) I do
Did (Do) I plant the seed
and water it
and dig out the weeds

It is up to You, my heavenly Father,
to make the seed grow
and reach its full potential
but You've made it
my responsibility
to help it along.

God teaches - what do we learn?

The trials we go through
are to teach us
SOMETHING
God wants us to learn

If we don't know
what He is teaching
and we don't know
what we are to learn
then the trials and difficulties
will continue
for as long as it takes
for us to see and understand
what God is showing us.

We can say
we are to rely totally on Him

But,
do we know
how to rely on the Lord?

Do we remember
the reminders
He has given us
many times over?

That He is all-sufficient,
all powerful
our refuge
our protector
Our guide
our Light
and much more

Do we pray back to Him
the Scriptures so we, personally,
are more mindful of Him?

Psalm 31 NKJV

1  "In You, O Lord, I put my trust;
Let me never be ashamed;
Deliver me in Your righteousness.
2  Bow down Your ear to me,
Deliver me speedily;
Be my rock of refuge,
A fortress of defense to save me.
3  For You are my rock and my fortress;
Therefore, for Your name's sake,
Lead me and guide me.
4  Pull me out of the net which they
have secretly laid for me,
For You are my strength.
5  Into Your hand I commit my spirit;
You have redeemed me,
O Lord God of truth.

6  I have hated those who
regard useless idols;
But I trust in the Lord.

7  I will be glad and rejoice in
Your mercy,
For You have considered my trouble;
You have known my soul in
adversities,
8  And have not shut me up into
the hand of the enemy;
You have set my feet in a wide place.

9  Have mercy on me, O Lord,
for I am in trouble;
...

14  But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord;
I say, 'You are my God.'
15  My times are in Your hand;
Deliver me from the hand
of my enemies,
And from those who persecute me.
16  Make Your face shine upon Your servant;
Save me for Your mercies' sake.
17  Do not let me be ashamed, O Lord,
for  I have called upon You.

and continuing through verse 24.

Read it, consider it, pray it and know
what He teaches
and what we are learning.

Wait on Him!

a synopsis of Psalm 27

The Lord -
my
Light
my
Salvation
my
Strength

Of whom
do I fear

Of whom
am I afraid

The darkness - of wickedness and evil
comes against me
stumbling and falling
yet my heart does not fear
I am confident
in  my Lord
I seek
to dwell
in the Lord
with the Lord
all my days
to meditate on His Word
to gaze upon His beauty
to praise Him
to glorify Him

In days ahead
not seen
I will be protected
hidden from the darkness
I will be lifted up
above every enemy
I am joyful
I sing songs of praise
to the Lord
my King
rejoicing over what will be

Hear me
I plead
Have mercy on me
Answer me
I seek you Lord
Do not turn me away
You are my help
Do not leave me
Do not forsake me
You are my salvation

Teach me
Your way
Lead me, guide me
along Your path

Do not deliver me
to the desires of my enemies
the false witnesses
who rise against me
I would have lost heart
if I had not believed
I would see
Your goodness
in the land that I live

Wait.
Be courageous.
The Lord will strengthen my heart
when I remember
to wait!
on Him

For He is
my Light
my Salvation
my Strength
my everything.

Fallen

Fallen ...

I question why
but answers fail

Why have you
turned away
from your first love?

Why have you
gone the way of the world,
the enemy
the devil - Satan,
whose goal is to destroy?

(Jesus said to the church of Ephesus): "...I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place - unless you repent."  - Revelation 2:4-5 NKJV

"If anyone ... does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth. ..." - I Timothy 6:3-5 NKJV

Why is your heart no longer filled with joy and peace?
Why is patience and gentleness gone from your being?
Why are you no longer kind and good to those around you?
Where is your faith
Where is your self-control
Where is your desire to share to the world God's gift of everlasting life?

Why, oh why, have you turned away from your first love?

"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world - the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life - is not of the Father but is of the world." - I John 2:15-16 NKJV

God desires you to repent, to turn from wickedness, to turn toward Him. He waits - open arms ready to embrace you.  He loves you so.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will direct your paths." - Proverbs 3:5-6
